Rocco came to Sikorsky Aircraft in June of 1987 as an Aircraft Electrician and was elected as Shop Steward just a year later. In his more than 30 years of service to Local 1150, he has also held Trustee and Business Agent positions. In 2001 Rocco was elected Secretary-Treasurer and Principal Officer of the Local and has held the position since. During his time in leadership, he has focused on expanding educational opportunities for members, including maintaining and increasing the Teamsters Local 1150 Scholarship Fund, negotiating and maintaining the Career Pathways Program and starting an Education Program at the Union Hall in partnership with the University of Connecticut. He led our union in the most significant job action in Sikorsky Aircraft history and has successfully negotiated 5 industry-leading collective bargaining agreements as Chief Negotiator. Beyond Local 1150, Rocco holds a wide variety of leadership positions. He is an elected IBT Eastern Region Vice President, the the Vice President of Teamsters Joint Council 10 New England, a Trustee for the Teamsters Joint Council Annuity fund and Co-Chairman of Teamsters 1150 Prescription Drug Fund. He has served on the Workers Comp Advisory Board for the State of Connecticut since 2004 and has been a Delegate to every Joint Council and IBT Convention for the past 20 years.
John has been with Sikorsky Aircraft since 1979 when he was hired as a riveter in Major Assembly. Soon after he became a Hydraulic Mechanic on Final Assembly and later worked as a Servo Mechanic. He has served Local 1150 as a Trustee on 3 separate occasions and as Vice President from 1989 to 1997, when he took over as Secretary-Treasurer and Principal Officer, a position he held until 1998. John has served as the Local’s President since 2014 and also works as the Hourly Benefits Coordinator at Sikorsky Aircraft. He holds 2 Master’s Degrees in Business Management and Labor Relations.
Rick was hired at Sikorsky Aircraft in 1979 as a Sheet Metal worker but spent the bulk of his time in the shop as a Machinist. He was elected as the 3rd shift Shop Steward in the Stratford Machine Shop in 1992, a position he held until 2001 when he was elected to the Executive Board as Vice President. Rick has served as a full-time Business Agent since that time, currently covering the membership at West Palm Beach, PAX River Naval Air Station, CT Blades and Transportation. He has been elected as a Delegate to all Joint Council 10 and IBT Conventions since 2001.
Ed has been with Sikorsky Aircraft since 1987. He had worked as an Aircraft Rigger on Final Assembly and served as Steward from 1993 until 2006 when he was appointed as Trustee. He has served as a full-time Business Agent since 2009. In 2016 the membership chose Ed as the Elected Business agent and was most recently also elected to the position of Recording Secretary in 2018. He holds certificates in Labor and Politics, Collective Bargaining, Grievance Handling, Grievance Arbitration and a Master Certificate from UCONN Labor Education, is a JC-10 Delegate since 2006 and a 2-time Delegate to the IBT Convention. As a Business Agent, Ed covers Connecticut Hangar Operations and the Troy, Alabama plant.
DJ came to Sikorsky Aircraft as a Servo Mechanic in 2007 after an internship with the Career Pathways program. He became a Mentor Coordinator for Career Pathways in 2010, holding that position until 2019 when he took over the program as its Director. DJ was elected Safety Steward in 2012, serving in that capacity until 2021 when he was appointed as a Business Agent. He is a Certified Health and Safety Official (CSHO) in General Industry and works as the Assistant Hourly Benefits Coordinator at Sikorsky Aircraft. Since 2018 DJ has held a Trustee position and as a Business Agent he covers VH, Dynamic Components and Shipping & Receiving in the Stratford, CT plant.
Mia began her time at Sikorsky Aircraft as a Trade School Intern in the Teamsters / Sikorsky Career Pathways Program. She was hired full-time in 2004 as a Gearbox Mechanic and has been a Mentor in the Career Pathways Program several times. Mia became a Mentor Coordinator in the program in 2016. During her time with the company, Mia has earned Associates and Bachelor’s Degrees in Business and Leadership and more recently earned her Master’s in Business Administration. In 2021 Mia was elected as a Local 1150 Trustee.
Amy has been with Sikorsky Aircraft since 2007, working as an Electrical Installer in Final Assembly, CAC and the Executive Aircraft Center. She became a Mentor for the Career Pathways Program in 2010 then became a Mentor Coordinator for the program in 2018. She joined the Letter 35 Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee in 2016 and currently still holds that position. Amy served as a delegate to the 2021 IBT Convention and joined The Local 1150 Woman’s Committee the same year. She also enjoys volunteering her time to the TVC & 1150 Scholarship Golf Tournaments, Home Run for Hero’s & Operation Gift Card and the EAP Food and Toy Drives.
Terry was hired at Sikorsky Aircraft in 1987 as a Hydraulic Technician on Final Assembly. He was elected as a shop steward in 2000, holding that position for 13 years until being elected as Local 1150’s first Chief Labor Steward. He has served our union as an organizer and is the founder and Commander of the IBT’s first Teamsters Veterans Caucus chapter. Currently, Terry is a Trustee and a Business Agent, covering Avionics in Stratford, CT.
Tom started at Sikorsky Aircraft in 1979 as a Structural Installer and has held several positions within the company ranging from Composite Development to Service Mechanic and Experimental Mechanic and he earned his A&P License in 2001. He was elected Shop Steward in 2008 and was elected as a Trustee in 2016, the same year that he was appointed as a Business Agent. Tom’s area of coverage is Aerostructures in Stratford and the Bridgeport plant.
Steve has been with Sikorsky Aircraft since 2005, working as an Electronic Checkout Technician on Final Assembly in Stratford, CT. He was elected as Shop Steward in 2009 on Final Assembly and held that position until 2021 when he was appointed to the position of Business Agent, covering Connecticut Assembly and Flight Operations (AFO). Steve is an Alternate Delegate to the 2021 IBT Convention.
Stephen was hired at Sikorsky Aircraft in 1987 and has spent his career as a Dynamic Component Assembly Inspector. He has spent the last 25 years at the Overhaul & Repair Plant in Shelton, Connecticut where he was first elected as a shop steward in 1997. Stephen has worked as Local 1150 Communications Director since 2001, has served on the union’s contract negotiating committee since 2006, has held the position of Chief Labor Steward since 2018 and serves as a Business Agent covering the Shelton, CT plant as well as Facilities Maintenance and O&R Blades.
